Empowering AFRICAN Culture

National Creative  Rights Alliance

NCRA works to unite Africa’s cultural and creative industries through national frameworks that protect rights, foster growth, and drive empowerment.

About NCRA

NCRA Africa is a continental initiative providing tools for countries to organize and strengthen their cultural and creative industries (CCI) at a national level.
By developing National NCRA platforms countries can:
  • Empower Creatives – Protect rights, support fair compensation, and open access to international markets.
  • Unlock Revenues – Bring money directly to creatives while generating new tax income for governments.
  • Strengthen National Identity – Celebrate and preserve local culture in a globalized world.
  • Ensure Transparency – Establish clear governance, rights management, and fair distribution systems.
  • Boost Employment – Expand opportunities across the creative value chain for youth and professionals.
  • Build Global Bridges – Link local industries to continental and international collaborations.
As the continental hub, NCRA Africa ensures technical tools, coordination, standards, and visibility, while each country develops its own national NCRA tailored to its context.
WHY ORGANIZE THE CREATIVE SECTOR?

NCRA MATTERS

The creative economy is one of the fastest-growing sectors worldwide — yet in Africa, it often remains unstructured, underfunded, and undervalued. NCRA provides the framework to unlock this potential and place culture at the heart of development.

Empower Creatives

Artists, musicians, filmmakers, and cultural workers gain access to rights protection and monetization.

Drive National Growth

The creative economy becomes a recognized sector contributing to GDP, jobs, and innovation.

Promote Inclusion

Women, youth, and marginalized voices are integrated into the creative value chain.

Ensure Transparency

National frameworks prevent exploitation and ensure fair compensation.

Build Bridges

Connects local industries to continental and international opportunities.

Attract Investment

A structured creative sector builds investor confidence, enabling funding, partnerships, and cross-border growth.

HOW IT WORKS

Turning Creativity into Growth

NCRA Africa provides the framework, but each country builds its own national platform. Together, they form a powerful network that protects rights, fosters growth, and connects African creativity to the world.

FRAMEWORK

Set the Groundwork

A national NCRA is established through agreements with ministries, cultural institutions, and creative organizations.

PLATFORMS

Go Digital

National platforms provide visibility, registration, adapted monetization tools and payment systems for creatives in each individual country.

EMPOWERMENT

Support Creators

Creatives gain access to rights management, training, funding, and market opportunities that help them grow sustainably.

INTEGRATION

Connect Globally

Each national NCRA links back to NCRA Africa, ensuring international recognition, stronger visibility, and cross-border collaboration.

Copyrights are everywhere

From music and film to fashion, design, literature, and digital art — copyrights touch every part of daily life. They ensure that creatives are recognized and rewarded for their work. Without proper copyright systems, artists lose income, governments lose taxes, and industries lose trust. NCRA builds transparent and fair copyright frameworks that protect both creators and consumers.

Turn Loss Into Growth

Africa loses over $1 trillion each year through piracy, weak copyright systems, and unstructured creative industries.

NCRA Africa transforms this loss into opportunity — protecting creators, securing national revenues, and fueling jobs.
